My heroines may be submissive in nature, but that doesn’t make them doormats or clones. Each has their own needs and agenda, which sometimes means they lie to cover up their true feelings or desires. Naturally consequences are in order for lying, but it isn’t always as straightforward as it seems, and what if it’s the man who has not been honest?
For L I could have chosen Lysa or Leah? It’s a difficult choice as both are quite different, living in different places, time and realities. Leah exists in a carefree 1960s Liverpool, whereas Leah is a travelling to a distant moon to marry a man she’s never met.
Lysa has been keeping a secret and lied to her new husband, Blake, about how she came to be selected as a potential wife for miners working at the colony.
He could guess, but he had to hear her say it. Her lower lip trembled uncontrollably. Lying to gain access to a computer system was one thing, but bribery was a serious crime. “I had to get in the catalogue. I found out a few officials could be bribed.”
“But not with money?”
Tears gathered a pace again, dripping off her chin. “I slept with two executives and they got me on the list.”
“How many times did they fuck you?” he snarled.
“Many. I hated it. It was nothing like us, I took no pleasure from it. I sold my virginity.”
“Dear God,” Blake buried his face in his hands. “For how long?”
“Several months. I grew used to it. Numb almost. But it got me here.”
“And now you intend to bribe me with fucks.” How could she not see how it hurt him?
“No!” She went white, swaying on her feet. “I always planned to tell you and have you agree to help me. I tried several times, but I was so tired. I need your cooperation, that’s all.” She knelt at his feet, gazing up and begged with her teary eyes. “Please, Blake. I will be a dutiful wife. All that you expected when you picked me. Don’t turn me away and send me back to Earth a failure. Let me prove it to you.”
Blake groaned in frustration. “I don’t know, Lysa…”

Leah, on the other hand, has suspicions that her loyal chauffeur is keeping secrets from her….
Leah woke to the smell of cooking. Slipping on a bathrobe, she cautiously went downstairs. Rick stood in the kitchen wearing nothing but his trousers and vest. Standing over her stove, he was stirring something in a saucepan.
“Smells delicious. What is it?” She peered over his arm, skimming a kiss on his rounded bicep as she leaned forward.
“My favourite,” grinned Rick. “Macaroni cheese! I will bake it for a little, in the oven. You can bathe and then it will be ready.”
Leah thought it a good plan. Later, scraping the dish clean, she complimented him on his cooking skills.
“Limited,” he confessed. “There were always chefs where I worked.”
“You’re not going to tell me, are you?” she said, laying her fork down.
“About what?” He shifted his eyes away from her face.
“Why you left Italy. I don’t think it was entirely about coming back here.”
“No. I can’t talk about it. It would be better for you if I didn’t.”
“I see. Well, no, I don’t. But I’m not going to push you.”
“How’s your bum?” He changed the subject.
“Tender and… a good reminder,” she admitted. “What next? For us?”
“I’m your driver, contracted for six months. I’ll take you to work, to wherever you want to go. But I won’t take any nonsense in my car. You will behave, Miss Leah,” he said slyly.
