#WipItUp – Friendly chat

Hello and on this Wednesday WipItUp, I’m sharing my latest release – Indulge Me.

Friends are invaluable when needing a sounding board. Saffron has just played an interesting tasting game with Gideon in the wine cellar of a castle. He left her with a proposal and she’s wondering whether to go ahead with it or not.

She needed a companion, a confidante to bounce off her worries. It came in the form an old school friend, Liz, who still lived in London. Saffron texted Liz, hinting at her conflicted emotions and Liz invited her over for the night for a girly chat.

Saffron took the half drunk Sassicaia, swathed in a padded wine cooler to protect it and her permanently packed overnight bag.

Sitting in Liz’s living room, her husband out playing snooker, the kids in bed, Saffron poured two glasses.

“Mmm. This tastes wonderful.” Liz smacked her lips.

“Yes,” she sighed, sounding less than enthusiastic.

“I’m wrong?” Liz held up the glass. She was a part-time physiotherapist and Saffron doubted her knowledge of wine went beyond supermarket plonk. The bottle label hadn’t registered with her.

“No, you’re right, it is a delicious red.”

“How much does a bottle cost?” Liz took a mouthful.

“A few hundred quid.”

Saffron mistimed her answer and Liz spluttered, coughing on her mis-swallowed gulp. “Fuck. Seriously?”

She nodded.

“How come it’s here with me?”

Saffron spilled the beans, omitting the salacious details. She told Liz about Gideon, how they’d bumped into each other. Coming up-to-date, she described the castle, the cellar and the wine tasting, leaving out her use as a ‘vessel’.

“Sounds lovely, romantic,” Liz said.

“Baguettes?” Saffron guffawed.

“Like an indoor picnic.”

“I suppose.” Why could Liz see things she didn’t want to?

“You don’t look happy.” Liz put down her glass. Since Saffron had told her the value of the bottle, Liz had sipped her drink in an overtly delicate fashion.

“Just…” How to explain his request, the way it made her feel—confused, unnerved, downright excited. “He’s asked me to do something for him.”

“Well, considering he’s given you an expensive bottle of wine, perhaps you should consider returning the favour.”

Saffron groaned. That made his proposition seem like he was buying sexual favours from her. “It wasn’t his wine.”

“Even more encouraging—that he should risk giving you something that wasn’t his in the first place.”

“I think he had permission.” She wanted to meet Duncan and find out what he knew about his friend, Gideon—a different perspective on the sommelier.

“Is it hard, what he’s asked you do to?” Liz asked.

“Not really.” She didn’t generally have problems achieving orgasms. “It’s the how and why, which is important to him. Why, especially.”

“I see,” Liz murmured. Given Saffron’s lack of details, it wasn’t likely Liz did understand. “Sleep on it.” Liz smiled. “That’s my solution when Elliot puts me in a difficult situation.”

Indulge Me kindleShe sees him once.

He’s standing across the wine cellar watching her when their eyes meet. Miles away from home in California’s Napa Valley, she’s caught in his gaze. Though, neither one speaks, for a moment the rest of the world falls away, and she sends him a smile.

She sees him again.

Back home in England. Is it the same man? In the middle of a crowded wine fair, she spots him. A smile of recognition, but no words exchanged. She shakes it off, the same line of business, the same events, it’s a small world.

The third is no coincidence.

She’s running a private tasting and in walks her mystery man, dressed in a fine suit. What does she really know about him other than they share a love of wine? She’s intrigued, even more so when she discovers he has sought her out. When he invites her to a private session in a wine cellar, deep underneath a castle, she begins to uncover his secrets.

Saffron surrenders her body and embarks on an indulgent journey with the attractive sommelier, Gideon. As a wine taster, Saffron continually uses her senses to carve out a successful career, driving her to the peak of her profession. However, when Gideon leads her on an erotic adventure fueled by passion and self-discovery, she’s startled to learn that she’s been living her life ignorant of sensory pleasures that require other talents, ones she’d never explored with her previous, disastrous lover. That man, who envies her success, is waiting to strike back and destroy everything she has achieved.

  1. H Jaye, congratulations on your new book. Liz might be right about sleeping, but with such a troubled mind I am not sure Saffron would sleep at all. Great snippet, I have the book on my kindle and I am itching to start reading. 🙂

  2. Looking forward to reading this Jaye, congratulations again on the new release! I know I’ve said it before, but the word that keeps coming to my mind with this book is delicious lol. Enjoyed the excerpt. It’s great to have good friends to use as a sounding board.
