Stymied by the blocks #amwriting

For an erotic author, writer’s blocks can be a double whammy. Settling down at the keyboard (or notepad, I’m old-fashioned), characters shout out to be heard. A plot weaves its way across the pages. There’s a journey and a destination. Writing is productive and the word count great. Until, I hit the road block with that scene which has to be written. The sex, the spankings, whatever. I stare blankly … Read more…

New release – Indulge Me – it’s bubbly, sparkly and full of intrigue

I’m going to tell you about my new book, Indulge Me, which has arrived on Amazon today. It’s a tale about two people who make a living from tasting wine. One works for a merchant, the other a restaurant. Saffron is at the top of her profession – a master of wine, while Gideon is a Sommelier who pairs wine and food for his customers. Their love affair begins in cool … Read more…

The art of conducting – dominance in action.

I like a good conductor (the orchestral kind not the bus).  Since I was kid I’ve been faced with many conductors.  They’re all different, and yet, they have a lot in common.  Here are the classic features: Good sense of rhythm – goes without saying, but you’d be surprised how many are vague when it comes to waving a baton. An expressive face – they can yell at you in … Read more…

#Pinterest – revealing the #erotic

I have various boards on Pinterest. One has my covers, another my favourite images and then there is one for the Trust Me series and I’ve started one for Sublime Trust too.  When I do a little research for my books I often keep a few images to help formulate the words. The yacht Sublime is based on a real one that I adapted for my book Judged by Him. … Read more…

A life of their own

Another book creeps closer to being published. This is the start of a new stage in life of Jason and Gemma, and a new trilogy. Why am I writing about the same characters? What makes an author turn one book into a series? It wasn’t intentional. Some books I write, the words come to an absolute conclusion. At the end of the book, you draw a line under everything, things have … Read more…

The CEO’s wife

There are going to be some samplings of book three in the coming weeks…… Her situation has changed dramatically in a space of a year. Gemma is now wealthy, has a relatively new job and has recently returned from an intense week of submitting to Jason in their New York apartment.  Adapting to change is tricky, especially when so much has happened in a short space of time. Jason doesn’t … Read more…

Honorific titles

There is a protocol when describing certain relationships to apply honorific titles.  In particular when referring to Dominants (or Dommes).  See, I did it just then.  I capitalised the first letter. For a submissive, the lower case.  I do differentiate when writing non-fiction and I would do for real people, though I have not written about real people.  However, in my books?  It was a dilemma. To begin with I … Read more…

Transforming the characters

Does a Dominant have to be rich and successful? Well no. In fact they usually ordinary everyday people, in everyday jobs and blend in without being noticed. Yet my Dominant is a wealthy CEO. As a child I loved to write SciFi stories. The unbelievable could be made believable just because it is fantasy. If the characters need to travel to one end of the galaxy to other, they can; … Read more…

Introducing the characters

Unless you start a book with a birth day, your characters are already fully fledged people with personalities and attributes. Plunging into their lives with little knowledge of their backgrounds, their pasts and influences, means there is a mystery about them. I’m not writing a biography, but somehow there needs to be a background development for each key character.  I need to unpeel the layers of an onion to expose … Read more…
