Office romances are often hush-hush. So when Jason telephones Gemma at work after one just date, she’s a little surprised…. *** “Miss Marshall. I hope you have had a productive week?” I stopped … Read more…

Books to recommend!

Here is my spanking challenges A-Z  letter R, my recommendations, for Father’s Day?  Well, maybe 🙂 This is about sharing the books I love to read. Not all of them, and just because I haven’t mentioned every title, doesn’t mean I didn’t enjoy them or wouldn’t recommend them. I’ve picked those books I think capture the author’s style and in doing so would encourage others to try out one and go from … Read more…

Thursday's Goodread – The Dark Side

Sometimes it is the cover that catches my eye.  Something which grabs and tempts me to peep inside. Do I mean some salacious handcuffs, or bared chested bodies or perhaps a grey tie? No. It is a musical instrument. Stick that on any cover and I’m intrigued. (I love books with musical influences). Naturally, based on this, I had to Ashe Barker’s Darkening, the first part of her Dark Side trilogy. … Read more…

Thursday's Good Read – Humbled

I’m quite partial to a historical novel. Medieval and Renaissance are two of my favourite periods, as is Victorian seen through eyes of writers such as Wilkie Collins and Charles Dickens. I especially like Dicken’s Tale of Two Cities. Set during the French Revolution, not Dicken’s usual time period,  it is a story of self-sacrifice at a time of social upheaval. Which brings me to Renee Rose’s spanking romance Humbled. … Read more…

What makes a good read?

I’m not a great one for writing reviews, not just books, anything. It is the star system I particularly loath. I can understand its purpose, just not how it can be fairly applied. Without guidelines, it becomes a subjective box tick, almost a polarised like or dislike with a vague differentiation in the middle. Ask me any day of the week for my top ten list of books, films or … Read more…

What do you think?

Getting reviews is something an author or any artist needs.  If I was managing a shop, I would be judged by the number of goods I sell. If I were a teacher by the grades of my students. If I were a doctor by the health of my patients. These are tangible things which can be calculated and measured.  The creative arts are couched in subjectivity. What is one person’s … Read more…
